Roadmap is fundamental to any planing and execution process and software engineering takes it quite seriously with new public sharing lookups variant are emerging now even by Atlassian and its marketplace partner released.so quite handsomely.

On a broad level there are two different ways to look at your roadmap view.

The First and traditional one is output based roadmap or roadmap, is the measure of success of simply delivering the product or feature to all the stakeholders with expected scope and timelines.

Second is outcome based roadmap, which is the measure of the product or feature success, gauged by the end customer’s usage satisfaction, which usually need numerous iterations of product or feature based on feedbacks in order to add any real value to the either businesses.

Outcome based roadmap was initially invented at HP Labs and later refined at Google and named as OKR sheets and proved great success at Google in order to follow lean product principles.

Which roadmap do you prefer at your work, an outcome based or the output based roadmap?
